  • ⅔ cup ketchup
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp freshly cracked black pepper
  • 1 dried chile pepper (New Mexico) (optional)
  • Salt
  • ⅔ cup ketchup
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp freshly cracked black pepper
  • 1 dried chile pepper (New Mexico) (optional)
  • Salt
  1. A dried New Mexico pepper will impart a subtle earthy flavor to the sauce. If using, slice the pepper down the long side and remove the seeds.

  2. Combine all the ingredients in a saucepan and simmer for 10-15 minutes. Let cool completely and then remove the pepper before using.
